Self Care of Diabetes Inventory - Patient Version
The Self-care of Diabetes Inventory (SCODI or “Scotty”) was developed by a team in Italy based on the Self-care of Chronic Illness theory. The SCODI measures the 3 dimensions of self-care maintenance, self-care monitoring, and self-care management. This version of the SCODI has an embedded self-care confidence scale. The SCODI has been tested and found to be valid in adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. All the scales were reliable, with multidimensional model-based reliabilities between 0.81 (maintenance) and 0.89 (confidence). Significant associations were found between self-care and the outcomes of HbA1c and complications of diabetes.
